The American Gymnastics Association

Thank you for your interest in the American Gymnastics Association. Our organization is built for girls who love gymnastics and want a competitive experience without the pressure or intensity of elite Olympic‑track programs. We focus on growth, confidence, and a supportive environment where athletes can challenge themselves, progress at their own pace, and truly enjoy the sport.

Why AGA

AGA was developed in 1984 to meet the needs of gymnasts who were interested in competing optional routines
About Us

Level Up

The program is unique, advancement upward through the levels depends on scores and ability, not age

Coaches

How we work

Don’t be busy – be productive!

The AGA is a female‑athlete‑only competitive organization made up of member gymnastics clubs across the region.

Our Board of Trustees works closely with coaches to ensure a positive, consistent experience for every gymnast.

We offer five classifications of competition—Developmental, Junior Prep, Junior, Senior, and Elite—each with its own set of optional routines and clear skill requirements. Gymnasts are placed based on their all‑around score and can move up freely at each meet. Once a gymnast reaches the exit score for her classification or is reranked at the start of a season, she advances to the next level. This structure gives every athlete the opportunity to grow steadily and celebrate her progress.

Getting Connected

If you’re curious about joining the AGA, we’d love to talk with you. Our representatives have decades of experience with the organization and are always happy to answer questions, explain how our meets work, or help you explore whether the AGA is the right fit for your gymnast.

02

Onboarding new members

We are always excited to welcome new female‑athlete‑only artistic gymnastics clubs into our community. If your club is interested in becoming a member, please visit our contact page to connect with an AGA representative and learn more about the onboarding process.

Join our season

The AGA competitive season runs from January through May. Meet entries are accepted exclusively from member clubs, so if you’d like your athletes to participate, now is a great time to reach out and begin the membership process.
